About the Role

In the Legislative Department we work closely with Chapter Leaders to provide Detailed reports on Legislation all over the country as well as network and meet with both State and Federal Representatives and Senators to lobby for specific legislation as well as discussing possible Bill drafts that promote GAG’s Mission.

In order to qualify for this position you must provide a relevant resume that reflects experience in this area. A degree in the Humanities is desired but not mandatory. Legal and Political experience is highly desired. All applicants will be required to pass a Bill Competency Exercise.

Position Details


 • Gets Assignments from Legislative Director

 • Writes detailed Legislative Bill Reports for State Chapter Leaders, Research, or Radar 

 • Writes detailed Legislative reports on State and Federal Representatives and Senators 

 • Examines Bills for Strengths and Weaknesses upon request

 • Networks with State and Federal Representatives and Senators

 • Testifies in support or opposition to Legislation at the State and Federal Level when possible

 • Willing to have one on one meetings to verbally explain your report or answer questions about your report as needed


Requirements:


 • Strong Reading Comprehension Skills

 • Good Multitasker 

 • Strong Communication Skills

 • Must be Patient when helping others understand the complexity of legislation

 • A Degree in the Humanities with a focus in Political Science or Law is preferred 

 • Must be LGB or T
